Albert M. Raines was born in Detroit in 1959. He received his law degree in 1985 from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. Raines was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1986, and is a member of the bar for the United States District Court Western District and United States Superior Court.
Albert M. Raines has over thirteen years of judicial experience. He was appointed to preside over criminal cases in Municipal Court for the cities of Kirkland, Clyde Hill, Medina, Yarrow Point and Des Moines. He has also presided over criminal cases in King and Snohomish County District Courts, and municipal courts in Seattle, Kent, and Federal Way. Prior to his first judicial appointment in 1992, Raines served as a Deputy Prosecutor for King County and the City of Seattle. He was also an associate attorney at Lane Powell, one of the Northwest's largest and respected law firms. Raines has handled criminal matters as an attorney for private clients in municipal, district and superior courts. He has also argued cases before the Washington State Court of Appeals and the Washington State Supreme Court.
Albert M. Raines has brought his courtroom experience into the college classroom, teaching introductory law on the college level for five years. Some of his former students were inspired by Albert, went on to law school, and became lawyers. Albert's unique qualifications allow other lawyers to refer criminal cases to him, and they often call him for his advice.
